Welcome

Fannta Drummer is a St. Louis-based graphic and culinary artist with some experience in printmaking who
is a board member of the city’s only African-American women-owned art cooperative/gallery, GYA, Community Arts & Fine Crafts. As the co-op’s in-house designer she specializes in graphic artwork on T-Shirts, and frame ready prints. She also curates some events, mixing social humanitarian activities with cultural arts and spoken word. She also serves as secretary of the co-op’s board of directors along with the other 5 women who founded the co-op.

She is heading a collaboration with the Immigrant Refugee Women’s Program and other women from various countries. Participants in the program periodically teach classes in crafts from the own countries. She is also collecting empty laser/inkjet cartridges and used cell phones to raise help fund the program. Fannta is producing a reading at the co-op on Oct. 10, 2010 with local poet “MsNterpretation”, also known as Flora Carson.

Fannta participated in the 2010 Wall Ball, and will be participating in the 2011 on April 9th. Wall Ball is one of St. Louis’ most popular annual creative community events. It is literally an outdoor artistic free-for-all with artists actually painting or drawing images in a collective mural on a wall selected for the occasion. The event engages in an eclectic mix of artists, patrons and admirers.

She is also the founder and managing director of Fabo an independent graphics art company that creates supportive identity and brand marketing materials for clients as well as publishes and distributes its own line of custom greeting cards and T-Shirts.

Fannta is also the creator of Foshanti Fruit Tarts vegan and organic delights. They have been well-received at vending events, festivals and farmers markets, and are currently being sold at GYA, Community Arts & Fine Crafts and Golden Grocer. The product carries the merger of her first name with the first name of her daughter, Ashanti. Although her creative, civic and business activities fill her plate, Fannta has carved out time to pursue academics and is finishing up her senior-year B.A. degree work at University of Missouri—St. Louis. Her major is liberal arts with a double minor in Studio Art and Art History. She will also be receiving a certificate in May 2012 for Non-Profit and Management. After graduation in 2012 she intends to acquire a Master’s Degree.
